What I’m up to and into this spring

What I’m up to and into this spring
I’m not actually into curling, but I’m totally digging these fancy pants worn by the Norwegians (Photo credit: Marlene Bannister)

March is a month you think you can get excited about. Spring is almost here! Technically, it’s the first day of spring today. But if you live where I do, you know a freak storm could bring winter’s wrath back at any second. Because of the unpredictability of spring in the Rockies, I find it sooooo helpful to have lots of little things to look forward to. I also use this shoulder season time of year to think deep thoughts:) I mull over what I’ve been spending my time on, if it was worth it, what I want to do in the next few weeks. Here’s a look at what I’m currently into.

Where’s Jody?

Believe it or not, I’ve actually slowed down my travel. It doesn’t seem like it though because articles and posts I’ve written get pushed out on a consistent basis. In the last month I’ve been featured in:

Best Health magazine: a travel piece on Edmonton and my experience getting mindful in the mountains with EcoYoga.

The Calgary Herald writing about ice fishing with Eve (actually really fun).

WestJet Magazine dishing about the food scene in Bermuda and Canada’s best outdoor spas.

FlightNetwork featured my piece on How decide which alpine ski destination is right for you.

And if you’re interested in skiing, but not around Banff, check out this segment I did on Calgary’s Global TV:

And I’m going on Calgary’s Global TV this Wednesday at 8:45 am to talk about my recent adventures in The Cayman Islands. Please tune in if you’re around.

What I’m Looking Forward To

Honestly, I’m just happy stay put for a bit and snuggle with my girl, my boy and my dog. Though March is when I really hit my stride snowboarding. We had an epic day out in Lake Louise this past weekend and it’s my goal to hit the hill every weekend until the end of April.

It’s pretty quiet in the mountains at this time of year, so I’ve booked into Elk + Avenue in Banff for a mini getaway. I can’t wait to getaway for a weekend and DO NOTHING.

I’ve so excited to make terrarium with Eve. This has been on my list for awhile now. I’ll either DIY with what I find at West Elm or head to Plant in Inglewood for a class.

I want to (have the time to) enjoy making dinner again. My friend Coral recommended this easy weeknight recipe.

I’m on tap to visit Costa Rica and having a trip to look forward to is a proven happiness boost.  Currently, I’m in the midst of getting my travel vaccines. I’ve found the best pharmacist ever (Mr. Patel) at the Shoppers Drug Mart on 17 Ave. FYI Shoppers now offers a travel clinic, which is way more convenient then getting the shots done during banker’s hours. I’ve got more dests on that service and the shots you should have here.

It’s our 15-year anniversary in early April. I’d love to sneak away somewhere hot for a few days, but I don’t think that’s in the cards for us. Still, I want to do something special. Any ideas?

I’d love to know what you’re looking forward to doing this spring?
