The capital city of Victoria has many things to do for families including visiting Butchart Gardens, going for afternoon tea and staying at the famous Fairmont Empress Hotel. Nearby Sidney by the Sea is considered Canada’s book town and this tag reveals many more tips on travelling through Vancouver Island – from places like Parksville to Tofino.

One Canada’s most vibrant cities, Vancouver is the largest, most cosmopolitan city in British Columbia. It’s a top choice for families with its Capilano Suspension bridge, science centre and Grandville Island. Nearby Vancouver lies Whistler, an upscale mountain town with a ski village that appears European in nature, with all the trendy bars, restaurants and shops within walking distance of the ski lifts and hotels.

British Columbia also boarders the province of Alberta along the Rockies. Here, you’ll find great outdoor adventures from skiing to hiking in places like Fernie in the Kootenay Rockies region. In Yoho National Park, you’ll want visit Emerald Lake Lodge and perhaps go snowshoeing at Marble Canyon.

In BC’s interior lies the Okanagan Valley, a lush, fertile area ripe for growing fruit. Pick apples or cherries or wander through the many vineyards along the 50th Parallel. In the Okanagan, there are many spots to do wine tasting. Besides tasting rooms, you can take a wine tasting tour by kayak or helicopter. And in the main cities and towns of the Okanagan valley you’ll come upon some fantastic restaurants, particularly in Kelowna and Penticton.

Because the climate is so mild in much of BC (mainly along the coast and in the lower mainland), it’s a popular spot for Canadians looking to get a break during winter. But if it’s snow you want, head to Northern British Columbia or the interior.
