The Best 2026 Travel Trends To Take Advantage Of

If you’re like me, you’re already planning out this New Year. And travel is likely high on your list. I’ve got work trips lined up for Victoria, British Columbia, Charlevoix, Quebec and New York in January, while my personal travel plans remain up in the air. In the meantime, here are the latest trends to help you and I make the most of our time and money.

2026 Travel Trends

Travellers are finally moving beyond the old fly-and-flop mentality. That’s where you jet off to any beach, settle into a lounge chair and barely budge from the sand, poolside or buffet all week.

Today, there’s a growing shift toward eco-conscious travel and more meaningful experiences. Vacations are becoming increasingly experimental and less cookie-cutter, allowing you to immerse yourself in whatever niche inspires you most.

What’s hot for 2026? Embracing a slower pace and doing less. Finally! More travellers are prioritizing rest and renewal, discovering that time spent in nature offers the reset they crave. Road trips are surging in popularity, thanks to their flexibility. And with ongoing turbulence in air travel over the past two years, it’s easy to see why this trend is accelerating.

One interesting emerging trend is among new couples. Scores of them are doing a  “stress test” of their relationships by travelling together early on. They’re heading out on trips early in the relationship to see how their partner handles discomfort, language barriers and the usual travel stressors. I can think of less expensive ways to go about this, but whatever. Travel opens up minds and gives us that reset we all crave.

All-Inclusive Resorts Tailored to You

Rather than a one-size-fits-all model, a fresh wave of all-inclusives is emerging, allowing each property to showcase its own distinct personality. Whether you’re seeking luxury, adults-only escapes, or family-friendly holidays, there’s a tailored experience to match.

Marriott Bonvoy, for example, has been redefining the all-inclusive experience across its portfolio in the Caribbean and Latin America. Its resorts offer elevated experiences for every type of traveller, from adults-only getaways to family vacations and wellness retreats.

These aren’t your typical all-inclusive getaway resorts. Guests can expect refined accommodations, great culinary programs, engaging daily entertainment and experiences that truly reflect the destination.

This adults-only escape brings W’s signature flair to Uvero Alto’s golden sands with cutting-edge design, oversized suites (some with swim-up access or even their own private pool). Guests can unwind at the 80-metre infinity Wet Deck, indulge in rooftop dining, greet the day with sunrise yoga, discover a hidden speakeasy, or rejuvenate at the AWAY® Spa. Sign me up!

My Travel Goals

After another crazy year of travel, my goals are simple. I just need to chill. I’m seeking rest, rejuvenation and inspiration. After I get through my January slog, I’m looking to take some serious time off in February. What that looks like or where I’ll go is up in the air, but I wouldn’t say no to a beach.

I’d love to hear any recommendations you have for resorts where I can take a breather without the party-party-party atmosphere. Though I am partial to a group fitness water aerobics class and music trivia games poolside.
