Almost Award Winning Guacamole
Andrew Schultz, Mr. Fab and I, about to square off

I almost had it in the bag. Almost. Last week I served up my famous guacamole to a hungry crowd at Clive Burger. There were judges, there were secret ingredients, and there were winners and losers. Sadly, I didn’t take home top honours, but my guac was a hot item, nevertheless. Here’s my recipe for guacamole:

Jody’s Almost Award Winning Guacamole

  • 2 ripe avocados (mashed)
  • 1 small, finely chopped clove of garlic (about a 1/4 teaspoon)
  • juice from 2 key limes
  • juice and seeds from half a tomato
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped white part of a green onion
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Mix well and chill for at least 30 minutes to let the flavours meld.

Guacamole
If only I had loaded more quac on my buns!

I put guacamole on everything, from burgers to eggs to shrimp. Mookie and Billie Jo from Lite 98.5 won the burger competition and you can try their award-winning combination for yourself. Simply head to Clive Burger on June 9 (now known as Clive Day), to sample this delicacy for a minimum $3 donation. All proceeds go to Grow Calgary, a charity growing 100,000 lbs of produce to ensure low income families have access to fresh food. How terrific is that? Bon Appétit!

Do you make homemade guacamole? If so, I’d love to hear how you make yours. If not, where do you buy yours from?[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
