Big news! Canmore’s got a new playground, except this one’s indoors. Elevation Place is now open, and wow, is it there ever a lot going here. The 77,000 sq. ft facility houses the town library, Art Guild Gallery and a small, but well equipped gym that sports cardio equipment and weights.

Family fun in Canmore: What to do at Elevation Place

You can watch your littles in the kiddie pool while you chill in the hot tub.

Canmore swimming pool

The swimming pool is tricked out with a lazy river, waterslide and 25 person hot tub. There’s also a steam room and a 25 metre lap pool with eight lanes. This will really hit the spot during those mind-numbing weekends with the kids during shoulder season. Pro tip: arrive before noon on weekends and school holidays so you don’t have to wait in line. Quite often the facility gets full by noon.

Elevation Place Opens in Canmore

Toddler’s can even climb the wall. Get here early on weekends, though!

But the big draw here is the wall. They don’t just have a climbing wall, they’ve got a climbing gym, filled with plenty of pockets, chimneys and ledges, to make you feel like you’re outdoors. Kids can hoist themselves up the wall too, but you’ll want to get here early, especially on weekends when it’s packed. Those weekenders!

Elevation Place pricing

Day passes run $5-20 or $4-$8 for pool use only. After that, membership and daily fees go into effect. Childcare is available for children 6 months to 7 years from 9am to 1pm (everyday but Sunday), at a rate of $2.75 per half hour.

Many families bring their own food to Elevation Place. There is a Good Earth coffee shop where you can grab sandwiches and light bites.

Perhaps I’ll see you there? Where are your favourite spots to hang with the family in Canmore?
