Holiday Cocktails

Holiday Cocktails

Tis the season for wining and dining and over indulging. Instead of getting worked up about all the extra events and chocolates, I say don’t be a Grinch, just enjoy yourself.

Poinsettia Cocktail

This week I wowed my book club with Nigella’s Poinsettia recipe. It’s one of my favourite holiday cocktails, as it’s as festive as it is potent. I was so carried away after a few glasses, that I mistakenly gave the wrong recipe to my girlfriend – doubling the liqueur and halving the juice. How’d that work out for you, Tina?

  • 1 750-mL bottle of Prosecco or another type of sparkling wine
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) orange liqueur like Cointreau or Grand Marnier
  • 2 cups (550 mL) cranberry juice
  • Mix up and served chilled in champagne flutes.

Don’t attempt to get fancy and add lime juice to it, like I did on my second batch. Totally disappointing.

Whist researching Christmas cocktails for my rowdy friends, I came across some yummy looking punch recipes, like candy cane punch and peppermint eggnog grog. Those are for sure worth researching.
