Ah, women! We tend to put our own needs behind the needs of those closest to us. And we all know what happens if mama ain’t happy. Ain’t nobody happy. That’s certainly true in my case. I decided a few years ago I wouldn’t delay any medical appointments – from getting my blood checked to mammograms – those annoying tasks can so easily be put off. So, yeah, I’m on it, but health is so much more than your physical body. For me, it’s about feeling AND looking my best.

Yes, I realize that sounds incredibly vain, but hey, I’m just being honest. When I look good, I feel better. Also, I’m not one of those people who looks professional without make-up on. I go make-up free all the time, but on those days when I put myself together, I have a confidence that can rival Sasha Fierce.

When it comes to health and wellness, I’m all over anything that delivers great value. Why spend more money than you have to? It kills me when people don’t take advantage of great opportunities, which is why I think you and all your friends need to know about the Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Galas.

Why you need to hit up Shoppers Beauty Boutique for their Spring Beauty Gala

The Spring Beauty Gala is totes fun!

Beauty Gala

Shoppers holds Beauty Galas a bunch of times a year. It’s not a formal party where you have to get all dressed up. It’s an in-store event that delivers major value. Everyone gets a personalized skin consultation and kick-ass makeover. Each location puts their own personal spin on the Gala, but you can expect fun bonuses like raffles, prizes and gifts. And you likely know how much I love my samples. They dole them out like crazy. Personally, I pocket these for Christmas stockings, but it’s probably a good idea not to be a hoarder like yours truly.

They both look great, don’t they?

This year’s Spring Beauty Gala happens nationwide on Saturday, May 5. (Stores not open Saturday will hold theirs on Friday night, May 4 instead, so check your favourite Shoppers prior.)

Tickets are only ten bucks and $5 from each ticket (plus 100% of all donations) goes to community-based programs in support of women’s health. This is the kind of charity work I can get behind. It seems selfish, as you don’t have to get your hands dirty in some soup kitchen, but you truly are doing something positive for other women.

You buy your $10 tickets in-store at Shoppers Beauty Boutique, and the $5 that didn’t go towards charity can be redeemable towards a cosmetic purchase on the day of the gala.

Again, so cute. You’ll walk out of the Spring Beauty Gala feeling totally happy (and looking hot).

What is SHOPPERS LOVE. YOU.?

The Beauty Gala is part of the Shoppers Drug Mart community involvement and corporate giving program. It’s called: SHOPPERS LOVE. YOU., which is annoying to figure out how to do punctuation after, but has contributed more than $57 million in the past five years to women’s health initiatives; so I suppose I can calm down about all the CAPS and periods.

The program also connects women to leading health organizations and experts, providing them with much-needed resources and information, plus supports important women’s health initiatives across the country, like the Run for Women going on in Calgary June 10. (Which I am doing!)

So go ahead. Show yourself some love, and do something that positively effects the lives of other women in your community by signing up for a Beauty Gala at your local Shoppers Drug Mart. Should you go to Shoppers in Chinook Centre, hit up Taylor for his top budget beauty buys. And at the Shoppers on 17 Avenue, you’ll find my favourite pharmacist: Bhavesh Patel.
