The Essential Guide To Whistler Happy Hour

Happy hour and après-ski go hand in hand, and the Whistler happy hour scene is one of Canada’s best. Typically, mountain resort towns aren’t known to be budget-friendly, but all that changes come happy hour. Anytime high-end nibbles and sips are brought down to a more affordable price is worth celebrating in our books.

Whistler Happy Hour

In Whistler, happy hour usually runs from mid to late afternoon, but some establishments offer a late night happy hour, too. Discounts aren’t just for drinks. Many of Whistler’s top eateries and lounges offer an array of appetizers and even slash prices on seafood dishes. Here’s the top happy hours in Whistler to put on your radar.

Shaken or stirred? The choice is yours at Hy’s.

Dustys

Situated at the base of Creekside Gondola, Dusty’s is a true après-ski spot for skiers and snowboarders ready to take the edge off. Their version of happy hour takes place from 10-11am and is called “Power Hour” with deals on mimosas and Caesars ($5), plus a Voyageur (Caesar + Labatt Blue bottle combo) for $10.

Here you can ski right up to one of Whistler’s largest and sunniest patios. Kitted out in antique mountain decor, there’s indoor and outdoor fireplaces and one of those garage door style windows that roll up in warm weather to allow the outside in.

Araxi Restaurant and Oyster Bar

One of the poshest dining options in Whistler Village, Araxi is where lovers of champers and freshly shucked oysters come to party. Araxi’s happy hour runs from 3-5pm with specials on oysters, beer, wine and cocktails.

Expect to be tempted to stay later for a spicy tuna roll, seafood tower or spicy cod roe homemade pasta. Just sayin’.

Location: Blackcomb Lodge, 4222 Village Square, Unit 110

Joe Fortez

Now if it’s a seafood you’re hankering for, you’ll be glad to hear Joe Fortez, the popular Vancouver seafood and chop house, has set up shop inside the Executive Inn at Whistler Village.

During après hour, which runs daily from 4-6pm, you can score one of Joe’s epic seafood towers for half price. Additionally, you’ll find wine at $1 an ounce which is rather exciting because this restaurant boasts an award-winning wine list.

Other notable après include half a dozen oysters, mini lobster and shrimp rolls, steamed mussels, prawn cocktail and mac and cheese.

For drinks there’s bubbles and highballs for $6, a 2 oz martini for $8 and margaritas run $7.

Location: The Executive Inn, 4417 Sundial Place

Caramba

Another local hot spot, Caramba has all your favourite European dishes – from pizza and pasta to French onion soup and beef cheek bourguignon. During their daily tappy hour (as in tapas) from 3-5pm, you can score any 3 tapas for $25. (The calamari a la plancha is quickly reaching iconic status.)

Daily drink specials include pitchers of sangria and craft beer for $20 and double highballs for only $6.50. Or go full Canadian with a jumbo Caesar pimped out with 2 beef sliders, deep fried pickles and a pepperoni stick for $22.

The Mexican Corner

It’s Fiesta Hour at this lively eatery Monday to Fridays from 5-6pm and on weekends from 3-4:30pm. This is when you can sip handcrafted margaritas for under $10, plus flights of tequila. Shots will set you back $6 and Modelo runs $5.

Location: 12-4340 Sundial Crescent

Dubh Linn Gate Irish Pub

Right at the base of Blackcomb, Dubh Linn Gate boasts Whistler’s largest selection of beer, live music and traditional Irish pub grub.

You’ll find the usual suspects here, but also a good selection of veg-forward dishes such as jackfruit tacos, glory bowls and cauliflower wings. For more traditional fare opt for clam chowder served with Irish soda bread, bangers and mash and steak or Guinness pie.

Grab a pint of BC Craft Beer, a highball or a 6oz glass of house wine for under $6, Sunday to Friday between 5-7 pm.

Cure Lounge & Patio

Head to this casual yet upmarket lounge inside Nita Lake Lodge for sweeping views of Nita Lake and its surrounding mountains. In summer, their large patio is where you’ll want to be, but in winter, cozy up beside the fireplace and you’ll still get stellar views of the lake from massive windows.

Happy hour runs from 2-4pm and you’ll save a couple of bucks of each of their small share plates, burgers and flatbreads. Of note are several vegan options and craft cocktails.

Location: Nita Lake Lodge, Creekside  2131 Lake Placid Rd

Stonesedge Kitchen

For something a little posher. Swing by Stonesedge, from 5pm until 1am for a $20 charcuterie board comprised of cured meats and cheese, some crostini and pickley things. This deal only works if you have an Apres Pass – a membership that grants you 20% off at partner restaurants and attractions.

Without the pass, you still get a happy hour discount, but it’s a few dollars more. Additionally, Stonesedge serves up a host of salads, burgers, wings and fancy fries – all on special.

Location: 4122 Village Green #13

Pizzeria Antico

For that thin crust Neapolitan pizza, look to Pizzeria Antico. With pies perfectly charred in their wood forno oven, you probably won’t be taking home any leftovers. Not when they make their own dough and sauces daily.

Happy hour here runs from 3-5pm every day. Additionally, all their BC Craft Beers (which at last count was 18) are on for under 5 bucks and their Margherita Pizza is half price.

Location: 4369 Main St #101

Milestones

One of the cheapest happy hours in Whistler is found at Milestones. This is the spot for $5 glasses (though prices do go up from here). You can nab crispy brussel sprouts for $7, spinach and artichoke dip for under $10 and there’s coconut calamari plus sweet chicken chilis bites to round out your late afternoon feast.

Hit Milestones Thursday to Sunday 3-6pm for these deals.
